SEGTA: Web Album

27 July 2010

Open / Random Category

This category is meant for the children to show their talents either in dancing, acting, singing, playing music instruments, etc. However, it should not deviate from the SEGTA theme - In Cuckoo Land. The participant can be either an individual or a group (not more than 10 children). The judges will evaluate the performance in term of the moral value or message of the performance, creativity and costume. Bonus marks will be given for extraordinary or unique performance, which are also considered by the judges.

Choral Speaking Category

Choral Speaking can be defined as 'A means by which literature (including poetry, chants and raps, scripts, short stories, fairy tales, fables and legends) is interpreted and communicated vocally by a group. These could be either student-written or published works'. In this competition a group can be formed of not more than 20 children (including the conductor). Only English language is allowed during this choral speaking. It is important to expose usage of English among our children since English is one of the crucial language that should be master by everyone in working field nowadays.

Ethnic Creative Dance Category

This category will show the talent of our children in dancing, especially the dance of Sarawak Culture. They will be exposed to the movements and choreography that they need to follow, thus enhance their cognitive development in remembering the steps and exploring the creativity within themselves. This category requires a team to send at least 8 members to perform the dance. The children will learn how to stimulate communication skills among their friends as they are working in a group.

SEGTA 2010 Sponsorship Rationale

SeDidik has succeeded in raising awareness to rural parents on the importance of instilling quality education at an early age. This event will be a stepping stone for SeDidik to complete the achievement trough social aspect, talent show. Our goal is to get as much as we can for the contribution especially on prizes, accommodation and transportation. The contribution will not exactly in the form of money, as SeDidik has competence fund. The contribution can be in form of products such as books, educational fixture, healthy products, etc.

Hence, this Bi-lateral collaboration will succeed both party in long term. All the activities in the event are highly interactive, providing the children an opportunity to participate as well as observe. This event is especially designated to increase community awareness, interest and education towards early childhood education regardless from government or private sector.

The experience that we offer them will be valuable to our nation as a whole. A study on Howard Gardner's theory 'level of playing field' clearly establish that learners can attain higher level of achievement using the arts as a tool. These method and learning styles proposes that children learn in a variety of ways. Many children do not learn well sitting at the desk and may assimilate information more effectively while moving or singing.

New Economic Model insists to stimulate economic growth by improving worker productivity across all sectors of society - in part through an improved system of affirmative action with an eye towards sustainability. How can we assure that these children are ready for this new era? We need to lend our hands and contribute in any way that we can support them, to show that we care. Are we?
